Starting point

The client had a few hundred virtual machines running in Oracle Cloud. While they had a few people who could do system administration tasks, everyting was manual. There was no time to automate anything to save time in the long run. That is where we stepped in. The customer’s was first and foremost interested in handling security updates in a controlled fashion on their production-critical systems.

Project

After clearing the initial hurdles and fixing several unrelated issues in the customer infrastructure we were able to deploy Ansible Automation Platform to Oracle Cloud. We then developed Ansible playbooks for generating software update reports and, when the customer felt ready, to deploy software updates in staging first and then in production.

End result

At the end of the project the customer had a fully-functional Ansible Automation Platform installation with Ansible playbooks they could use to manage their security updates, among many other things.
